Obituary of Landon Paul Austin
Hello, my name is Landon Paul Austin and I’m going to tell you about how I became a Superhero. It all started on my birthday and my first superpower was revealed. I filled my Mommy and Daddy’s hearts with so much love, like they never felt before and I made it last forever. I needed to develop my super abilities, so I trained with the best at Akron Children’s Hospital. If tall buildings represented the boundaries of medicine, I was able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. It was neat to show the doctors just what superhero babies like me could do. Well, I was too cool for school and I left Children’s Hospital because I wanted to be with my favorite superhero of all time, Jesus. I may have had tiny footprints, but I know that they left a huge mark on everyone I met. Like my sidekick Deacon Dennis says, “You can learn a lot from someone who hasn’t said a word.” Love always and forever, Landon.
Landon’s parents Ben and Jenny (Schleier) Austin would like to thank our family and friends who continue to give love, support, and prayers, including the family at PPG and The University of Akron, especially Kelly Herold. Thank you to Nurse Stacy and the Akron General Hospital NICU team, Dr. Protain, Dr. Grow and the Akron Children’s Hospital NICU team, the fantastic 4th floor PICU team at Children’s Hospital with its League of Extraordinary doctors and nurses, Dr.’s Veluchamy, Enlow, Zawadki, Cohen and the rest of Children’s Neurology team, including Dr. Melver. We would also like to thank Fr. Steve Brunovsky, Deacon Dennis, Chaplain David McBee and Chaplain John. A most sincere thank you to Landon’s “Super Friends” including neurologist Dr. Veluchamy, Deacon Dennis, Neonatologist and Landon’s “Lana Lang” Dr. Ali Protain, and especially Landon’s “Lois Lane” Nurse Mary Lou. Mommy and Daddy especially thank Landon for showing us what unconditional love is. We are so lucky to have you as our son. “How lucky we are to have had a beautiful baby boy that makes it so hard to say goodbye to.” We look forward to the day we are reunited with you and can hold you in our arms again.
