Obituary of Ernest James Hutko

Ernest James Hutko, Sr. 85, died November 10, 2015 at the Arbors of Stow. Born in Akron on March 3, 1930 to the late John & Elizabeth Hutko, Ernie was a lifelong area resident. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, proving himself to be a faithful & honorable solider. Ernie worked 18 years for Goodyear and then went to work for the City of Cuyahoga Falls in the Communication Technology department. Though not a church-goer, Ernie was a good Christian man and kept a strong faith. He was a proud 50+ year member of the ARRL (ham radio), his call being W8IUX. Ernie also loved tinkering with electronics and listening to music. He is survived by his former wife of 42 years, Ruth Edwards; sons Ernie Jr. (Denise), William (Janice) & Timothy (Tammey) Hutko; brother John; grandchildren William Sell, Alechia Miholer, Matthew Reisinger, Charles J. Smith and Tony L. Smith; lifelong friends Joe Horvath, Ron Karas, & Gene Cook and special family friend Larry Goodlin. A special thank you to Scot Stevenson for all his services and help in Dad's final years. A funeral service will be held TODAY, Friday, November 13, at 1:00 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, McGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, 247 Stow Ave (at Third Street, one block north of Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls), where the family will receive friends beginning at 12 NOON.
