Obituary of Margaret E. 'Peg' Ahonen

Margaret (Peg) Ahonen -CUYAHOGA FALLS Margaret (Peg) Ahonen, nee Ellis, age 92, passed awayt October 29, 2015. Peg was born in Richfield and graduated from there as high school . She attended Kent State University and graduated cum laude with a degree in elementary education. She was a teacher for 32 years in Berea, Warren, and Cuyahoga Falls. She was an active 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, as well as Wesley Class & Rebecca Circle, P.E.O. Chapter CS & former president, and the C.F. Women's Club. After retirement, Peg volunteered at the International Institute, the GED Program, and as an Oasis tutor. She was an avid reader, gardener, and traveler. Peg was preceded in death by her husband Arne; parents Walter & Minnie Ellis; brothers Don & Dick. She is survived by her sons Robert (Dee) & Bruce (Beth); grandchildren Brooke (John) Arbaugh, Kami (Ben) Heilman, Scott (Rachel) & Bryan Ahonen, & Cindy (Bryan) Cogswell; great-grandchildren Abby, Annabeth, Hannah, Ethan, Luke, Caleb, & Hailee. A Private burial will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, 4-7 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL 247 Stow Ave. (at Third St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221 or Boy Scout Troop 152 c/o the church.
