Obituary of Rosalie "Rose" Simmons

Rosalie Simmons, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015. She was born in Riverside, West Virginia and came to Akron in 1928. She had a love for sewing. She was the president & owner of the Volume Sewing Company with 40 years of service retiring in 1987. She was known as “Rose” by many of her customers and friends. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and Fairlawn AARP. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bessie Rutledge; husband, Ronald; infant daughter, Sylvia; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; and many friends. Rose is survived by her sons, Charles R. (Shelia) and Robert H. (Donna); daughter, Rebecca Lytle; grandchildren, Diana (Gary) Elrod, Lisa Marie Simmons, David (Theresa) Simmons, Kimberly (Don) Holtzapple, Robert J. Simmons, Debbie (Mike) Loiacono, Kevin Simmons, Marti (Bill) Griffith, Mandy (Jason) Youngblood, Matthew (Amy) Simmons and Adam (Sarah) Simmons; and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301. Rev. Scott Souders officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4904 Quick Rd. Peninsula, Ohio 44264.
