Obituary of Calvin R. Anweiler
Calvin R. Anweiler, 91, of Surprise, AZ. passed from this life on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Belmont Assisted Living Home in Scottsdale, AZ. after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Captain Anweiler was born in Akron, Ohio to Philip John Anweiler and Rozzina Wheele Anweiler. He attended Kent State University where he was awarded a BS degree in Business, Magna Cum Laude in 1948 and then attended NYU where he was awarded a Master’s degree. He joined the Army, and later became a career Naval Officer, rising to the rank of Captain. Captain Anweiler served in Japan and the United States over a 32 year career before retiring.
Captain Anweiler was a 32nd degree Mason and enjoyed Football, golf and travel with his wife Bernetta. Calvin always enjoyed a party.
In 2002 he married his high school sweetheart and best friend Bernetta; they lived in Texas and Arizona and traveled extensively together for pleasure, making lasting memories. Calvin and Bernetta were always there for friends and family and had acquaintances all over the world. Calvin Anweiler was a loving husband to his wife, and an admired father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Calvin Lee Anweiler of Chicago, IL. and Larry Richard Anweiler of Casa Grande, AZ. He has a stepdaughter, Janelle Pera of Scottsdale, AZ.; grandchildren Aaron Anweiler, Brian Anweiler, Eric Anweiler and Victoria Anweiler; and many great-grandchildren and cousins.
Calling hours for Calvin will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel,1990 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44301. The military funeral for Captain Anweiler will take place at the family gravesite in Akron following the visitation at 1:30 p.m. at the Greenlawn Memorial Park.
