Obituary of Ruth Claire Mazan

Ruth C. Mazan, 90, passed away on July 26, 2015. She was born in Hooversville, PA, on December 23, 1924. She was a graduate of Kenmore High School (1945) and Hammel Actual Business College. Ruth was a founding member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She sang in the church choir, was a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Girl Scout Brownie Leader. She was a member of VFW 3383 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Eagles. She worked at Gardner Insurance Agency in Kenmore and as a realtor for Flowers Realty. She was an avid reader and card player and loved bowling, swimming, fishing and camping. Ruth was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John E. Mazan; parents, Elsie V. and Alex Jerin, Sr.; brothers, Alex, Harold “Smokey,” Kenneth and Gerald Jerin; and granddaughter, Marci Marx. She will be missed by her children, John S. (Louise) Mazan, Linda E. Marx and William A. (Charlene) Mazan; grandchildren, Charles L. (Michelle) Miller, Andrea Stacks, Valerie (JT) Thomas, Nikki (Mike) Miles, Allen (Carol) Mazan, and Jason Mazan; great grandchildren, Kody, Khloe, Gracie, Melanie, Lucie, Lydia, Anna and Katie; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Falls Village for their comfort and care of Ruth. Funeral service prayers will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio 44301, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2101 17th St. S.W., Akron, Ohio 44314, with Fr. Michael B. Smith officiating.
