Obituary of Robert Lee McClain
Robert Lee "Ducky" McClain, 84, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at Barberton Hospital.
Robert was born in Ashland, KY to the late Jesse & Hattie McClain on August 17, 1930. He served in the Navy for a total of five years During the Korean Conflict, including two in North Africa as a Navy Fireman. After being discharged from the Navy, Bob moved to Akron and settled down with his wife Gloria Adkins. He worked at Goodyear Aerospace, and eventually retired from Lockheed Martin in 1996. Robert loved country music and played steel guitar. At home in the outdoors, he could be found fishing, duck hunting and gardening. In their spare time, Bob & Gloria enjoyed traveling across the United States in their conversion van.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria; children Roger and Kendra (Lorenzo) Schide; siblings William McClain & Phyllis Tackett; grandchildren Jeremy McClain, Melissa (Scott) McClain-Teaford, & Bryce Schide; and great-grandchildren Brie and Cameron Teaford.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 14 from 6-8 PM at the Anthony & Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Rd in Green (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese). Funeral services will be celebrated 12:30, Wednesday at the funeral home, with visiting one hour prior starting at 11:30. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
