Obituary of Martha Stewart Tate

Martha S. Tate Martha Tate, 97, passed away peacefully on June 13, at Rockynol Care Center in Akron. Born in Akron on September 2nd, 1917 to the late Edward & Anna Richardson, Martha was a 1935 graduate of Central High School and received her Bachelors of Education from the University of Akron in 1938. She taught first grade for 35 years for the Akron Public Schools. She was a longtime member of the Williard United Church of Christ in Akron, as well as the College Club and the Women's City Club. Martha was an avid bridge player and was a world traveler. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and her daughter Marti Drosyk. She is survived by her daughter Rev. Debra J. (Thom) Tate Peterson & son Ralph (Jeannine) Tate; 7 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren; sister Ida (Phil) Schmuck, as well as many nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5-7:30 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home, KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a funeral service will follow immediately at 7:30 pm. Interment will take place on Friday, 11:00 am, at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Cuyahoga Falls.
