Obituary of Leona G. Andrews
Sherrills Ford, NC -- Leona Andrews, 94, fell asleep in the Lord peacefully on May 19, 2015 in North Carolina.
“Leona” (formally named Lemonia after her Paternal Grandmother) and nicknamed “Lee” was born on August 4, 1920, in Akron, the daughter of the late George and Kaliope “Clara” (Parianos) Mousetes. Lee graduated from East High School in 1939 and married James Andrews (Androulakis) on August 3, 1940 who predeceased her on August 9, 1998. She resided in her home in Fairlawn, OH for 55 years prior to moving to North Carolina 2 years ago to be closer to her son Mark. Along with working in the home, Lee was a “fashionista” before it was a word! She was extremely proud to have earned many top sales awards as a ladies fashion consultant while working for Peck & Peck, Halle’s, Higbee’s, O’Neil’s, and Dillard’s throughout her career. She was also a caretaker for her daughter Stephanie when she fell ill to a serious illness and to her husband when he fell ill late in life. In her younger years she enjoyed entertaining and was a fabulous cook and baker. She planned for every meal of the day. She made all kinds of delicious Greek dishes for the family and thankfully passed her recipes down (especially the Koulourakia)! She was an avid knowledge seeker and enjoyed writing poems. She was also exceptionally proud of her home and kept it tidy and clean, and her hobby was decorating the house.
Lee is survived by her son, Mark (Erin) Andrews of Sherrills Ford, NC; grandson, Michael of Norton, OH; grandson, Nicholas and granddaughter Anneliese of Sherrills Ford, NC; sister Alice (Louis) Chibis of Akron, OH; sisters-in-law Mary Andrews of Montgomery, TX and Patricia Celentano of Ramsey, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Greg, Harry, and Jimmy Mousetes; sister Mary Tonies; two sons Michael and Timothy, and daughter Stephanie.
