Obituary of Thomas John Bruning

Thomas John Bruning, 66, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Akron City Hospital. Tom was born in Cleveland on August 29, 1948, and raised by John and Julie Bruning, settling in the Akron-area in his early teens. He graduated from Mt. Union in 1970, and served in the National Guard. Tom met his future wife Cynthia while they were both employed by General Tire, and made it official in 1982. After General Tire, Tom went on to work as purchasing manager for CoPolymer Plastics, Pirelli Tire, then back to Continental General Tire, finally retiring from Quadrant Plastic and Engineering. He loved to golf and travel. As a committed member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Tom found support and supported others in their time of need. Tom was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julie Bruning. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cynthia; daughter Jennifer R. (Todd) Miller; granddaughter Brooke Greylynn; sister Linda Bruning; and many beloved cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 18 from 4:30-6:30 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, with a memorial service to be celebrated at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 West Market St. Akron, OH 44313.
