Obituary of George 'Jeff' Jefferson Johnson

George 'Jeff' Jefferson Johnson George 'Jeff' Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 17, 2015. Born in London, KY on August 19, 1922 to the late Orlando & Nora Johnson, Jeff had been an area resident since the end of WWII. He retired in 1987 with 40 years of service from the B.F. Goodrich Co., where he worked first as a tire builder and later in the Chemical Plant #2. Jeff also worked for many years as a barber. Jeff served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII. He served in the European Theatre and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, earning a Bronze Star. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and was a huge fan of Coventry Sports and the Kentucky Wildcats. He was a lifelong member of the Medina Bird Club. In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his wife Eileen; children Sue Caruso and Mark B. Johnson; siblings John, Elsie, Donnis, Jewel, Hazel, Eva, Jim, and infant brother Clyde Johnson. He is survived by his son Keith J. (Marianne) Johnson and daughter-in-law Debbie Johnson of IN; grandchildren Jeff Johnson, Amanda (Chris) Baker, Missy Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Frank Caruso, & Todd Caruso, as well as three great-grandchildren; siblings Marie Upspring, Wilson Johnson, and Shelly Johnson. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Pleasant View Care Center for the wonderful care given to George. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 4-7 pm, at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
