Gerald R. Bond
Gerald Robert Bond, 89, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015.
He was born in Akron and was a lifetime resident of the area. He retired from the Akzo Noble Salt Company in 1986 after 34 years of service. He attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where he played the Clarinet. He played music his entire life. Mr. Bond was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving during World War II. He played music for General McArthur in the Pacific with the Army Air Corps. Band. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of South Akron and enjoyed winters in Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert A. and Erma Louise (McClellan) Bond; and is survived by his wife, Sarah J. (Russell) Bond of Akron; son, Mark Jeffrey Bond of Columbus; sister, Geraldine Zickefoose of Canal Fulton; sister-in-law, Dorothea Brannon of Arizona; and nieces and nephews, Craig, Brian and Keith Zickefoose, LynRae Graham, Ramona Harouff, and Lyn, Scott and Gary Brannon.
Services are private for the family. There are no calling hours.
