Obituary of Sophie Stokich

Sophie Stokich, 93, passed away on March 7, 2015. Born in Akron on November 1, 1921 to the late Steven & Violet Esakov, Sophie was a lifetime resident and graduate of South High School, where she later worked as a secretary. She was a member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox church, as well as the Srpska Zenska Ladies Auxiliary. Sophie was extremely proud of her Serbian Culture & Heritage. Most of all, Sophie enjoyed being with her family, which was at the center of her life. In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband Victor in 1997, as well as her siblings Olga, Douglas, Peter, Paul, & Mike. She is survived by her children Richard (Karen), Stan, Marianne (Rick) Allen, Nancy Stokich-Campbell, & Lynda (Craig) Campbell; brothers George & Charles (Pat) Esakov; grandchildren Tami (Tim) Semelsberger, Denise Rogers, Jamie Campbell and Brian Campbell, Ian (Jessica) and Zachary Campbell, and Lindsay & Kurtis Allen, as well as 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a Parastas will take place at 7:30 pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Akron. (Anthony Funeral Homes, AKRON, 330.724.1281, anthonyfh.com)
