I was a student at Lincoln School when Miss Heckendorn, as she was called then, first started teaching. She somehow got us to come to school early to sing in the chorus. Her passion and enthusiasm helped awaken in me a lifelong love of singing and music. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, especially at what is now considered such a young age! She came to our father, Bruce Habeck's funeral visitation in 1997 as she had taught many of the members of my large family, and I found her little changed from the days when she taught me. She left her mark on the world in a good way! I will never forget her!
