Obituary of Anthony F. Mollica
Anthony F. Mollica (Gogs) passed away peacefully at the age of 95 surrounded by his wife and children at The Village of St. Edward on April 4, 2007.
Tony was a life resident of Akron, OH, where he met and married his sweetheart, Mary Jo. Together they raised a family of twelve children. He worked at City Bakery for 45 years and retired in 1973. "Daddy" was most proud when he was voted "Father of the Year" by a local radio station. Tony was an avid New York Yankee fan. He loved to garden and whatever his hands touched seemed to blossom. He loved listening to music and during his last days would always request the family to play his CDs. Tony was a member of St. Mary Church in Akron where he ushered and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He had tremendous faith in God and instilled this faith in each of his children who were blessed to have him as their father.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved son, Tony; brothers, George and Joe; sisters, Mary Haberman and Nancy Bucy; daughter-in-law, Annie and son-in-law, Clay Compton. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Josephine, and his eleven children: son, Michael of Akron; daughters, Carolyn (Eisenhut) Compton of Akron, Loretta (Robert) Carlisle of Green, Patricia (Robert) Drapcho of N. Canton, Kathleen (Edward) Tyrrell of Naples, FL; Theresa (Ross) Holden of Akron, Mary Jo (Robert) Loos of Suffield, Dolores (Tom) Olechnowicz of Richfield, Eileen Mollica (Jeff Schaefer) of Akron, Anne Marie (Jerry) Carroll of Las Vegas and Gina (Jeff) Koncz of Akron.
