Obituary of Olive Grace Greene

Olive Grace Greene was born on July 5th, 1919 in Perth Australia. She passed away on June 21st just 2 weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. She came to the United States as a war bride in 1945 after she married John W. Greene (submarine service) in 1943. She lived in many places over the years including Hawaii, California, and Connecticut, since she and her husband were often transferred in his naval service career. When John retired from the navy they settled in Tallmadge and she lived there for 34 years. Most recently she moved to Green be closer to her daughter's family and has lived there for the past 7 years. She was preceded in death by her husband John (1971), and her four brothers and sister in Australia. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Marilyn Greene, Michael Greene (Vicky), Maureen Greene , and Melinda Ferrell (Martin), and her "daughter of her heart" Rita Case. Precious grandchildren Amanda Ferrell, Greg Ferrell, Joseph Ferrell, and Sean Greene and many other beloved relatives and friends. Olive loved to sing. She often sang at parties and weddings and for USO functions during WW2. She continued to sing in her church choirs and most recently at the YMCA in Green during her water aerobics classes. She was a wonderful mother, nana, and friend and will be lovingly remembered for her outgoing, happy nature and her funny stories (nothing was safe she would tell her life and yours to anyone willing to listen!) We love you mom and will miss you each and every day. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Steese and Massillon Roads, entrance off Steese). A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. (Anthony and Son, Green, 330.899.9790, www.anthonyfh.com)
