Obituary of Alex Soltas
Alex Soltas, 89, passed away January 18th, at Manor Care in Barberton.
Born in Akron in 1917, Alex had been a lifetime area resident. Alex served his country as a member of the Army during WWII, where he was a POW in Germany, and was a member of Firestone Park VFW #3383. Alex worked as a machinist at The Chrysler Stamping plant and was a member of UAW Local #122.
Alex was preceded in death by wives Mary in 1986 and Nola in 2004; sons Richard Sladek and Alex Soltas Jr. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Steve and Gale Soltas of Cuyahoga Falls and daughter and son-in-law Diana and Chuck Kuchinsky of Uniontown; stepchildren Diana Dupree, Clifford and Kenneth Skiles, and Lavonna Easterly; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Manor Care in Barberton, especially Matt, Joy, and Kim, for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 pm at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home 95 W. Waterloo Rd. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Rev. Dennis T. Woodruff officiating. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park. Donations in Alex's memory may be made to The Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church 2425 Myersville Rd. Akron, OH 44312.
