Obituary of Grace T. Williams
GRACE T. WILLIAMS (GIBBONS)
Heaven welcomed its newest member, Grace T. Williams on January 24, 2007 after a fulfilling life of 87 years.
The daughter of the late John and Ada Gibbons, she was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls. Grace met the love of her life, Joseph Peter Williams, at a dance at the old Summit Lake Park. They married in 1950 and she still lived in the same Akron house where they raised their family. While her husband died prematurely, their shared values of honesty, belief in God and respect for life were deeply ingrained in their children and they thank her for this lesson.
Grace worked as a telephone operator for 40 years at Ohio Bell before her retirement in 1984. She had many friends who remember her sharp wit, sense of compassion and friendly spirit which was never forgotten by anyone she encountered. A convert to Catholicism, she belonged to St. Bernard's parish where she was a member of the Altar Society and helped start the Coffee and Donut hour which still exists today. She was also a member of the SBC Pioneers. She thoroughly enjoyed Saturday mornings at FrankEric Hair Dressers where she brought joy to the staff and patrons. While there will be a void at the Sunday dinner table, her family rejoices knowing she now celebrates communion with all the angels and saints.
Predeceased by her husband, parents and granddaughter, Karen Elizabeth, she is survived by her sons, Brian (Margaret); Mark (Cynthia); and four grandchildren: Rene Stufft (Jonathan); Colleen Clark, Stephen Clark (Emily) and Joseph Williams. Her cousins in North Carolina also mourn her passing.
The family expresses its heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the Akron General Medical Center and the Hospice Care facility.
