Obituary of Venetsianna N. Alex

Venetsiana (Sanna) N. Alex, 102, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday January 14, 2007. Born in Mani, Greece, she emigrated to Cleveland with her parents Malamatenia and Nicholas Mihaleas (Michaels) in 1907 at the age of 2 where she lived the rest of her life by the command of "Love one another." Sanna was largely self-educated and enjoyed the arts, reading, poetry and philosophy. She was a founding member of both The Annunciation and Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orth. Churches. Mrs. Alex was preceded in death by husband Nicholas (1961); children Evan Alex (1945) and Helen Papouras (2000) and granddaughter Lydia Lekas (2006). She is survived by son-in-law Harry Papouras; grandchildren Alexandra (Adrian) VanZelfden, Dianthe (Fr. George) Livanos; grandson-in-law Nick Lekas; and 14 great grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 3352 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Hts. Viewing 10am, Funeral 11am. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Makaria meal to follow at church. Frs. Stephen Callos and George Livanos officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ss. Constantine & Helen Agape Fund.
