Obituary of Nadezda Whitby

Nadezda Whitby, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. Nada was born on October 16, 1938 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia to the late Filip and Gospova Smirnow. In the 50s, she met her husband Raymond in Germany, and then moved to Akron in the late 1960s. Nada was a member of St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, and she was very active at the church and in the local Serbian community. Nada was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, & sister, and will be missed by all who knew her. Nada is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond; children Raenada Whitby Leonard and Ron (Gretchen) Whitby; grandchildren Rachel, Zachary & Andrew; and sister Helen Tasseff. The family will receive friends January 11 from 4-7 PM at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, with a Parastas at 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 12 at 11 AM at the St. Archangel Michel Serbian Orthodox Church, 2552 Pickle Road, Akron 44312, where she will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Donations in Nada's memory may be made to St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church. Memory Eternal
