Obituary of Marilyn Pricilla Smith

Marilyn P. Smith, 76, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Bath Manor. Marilyn was born June 26, 1935 to Howard B. and Ida (Fike) Ringey in Bakersfield, CA. She was a military brat. Growing up in Europe, she lived on AFBs all over the world. She met her late husband, Rev. Dale O. Smith, when her father was his drill instructor. She was employed by Sterling Jewelers Financial Services as a credit manager. Marilyn shared the ministry with her husband at Sherwood Park Baptist Church. She was involved in missions, was the Children's Director and even dressed as the Easter Bunny for the children. She was recently excited to learn she was to be a great grandmother and said if she didn't make it to the birth that she would give the little one a swat on the fanny and send him on his way to earth. In addition to her late husband Dale and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Karen Sue; and is survived by her children Rev. Dale O. (Marilyn) Smith, Jr. of Alabama, Karen (Jack) Eriksen of Cuyahoga Falls and Keith (Melissa) Smith of Akron; sister Linda (Robert) Perry; grandchildren Tamika and Brandon Eriksen, Dustin (Katie) Smith, Kelly (Matthew) Blackmon and Nicholas, James and Daisy Smith. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. where the family will receive friends from 12 p.m. (NOON) until the time of services. Rev. Dale O. Smith Jr. and Rev. Charles Whitlock will officiate.
