Obituary of Irene Tokar

Irene Tokar, 94, passed away on December 27, 2014 at Danbury Woods in Cuyahoga Falls. Born in Akron on October 6, 1920, Irene was a lifetime resident and a graduate of East High School. She was a devoted member of the former St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church for over 75 years. Irene retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where she worked as a secretary. After retirement Irene enjoyed traveling with her husband John. She also enjoyed dancing and was an avid sports fan. She especially enjoyed the Browns and the Indians. Irene was preceded in death by her husband John in 1990; 7 siblings; daughter-in-law Marsha Tokar. She is survived by her sons Ronald (Patricia) & Edward; grandchildren Ronald (Lisa), David (Michelle), and Paula (Scott) Edersheim; great-grandchildren Daniel, Nicholas, Katharine & Ella; sister-in-law Mary Tokar, as well as several nieces & nephews. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Barberton, where Irene will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Mogadore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church 1051 Robinson Ave. Barberton, OH 44203.
