Obituary of John Michael Coch
John Michael Coch, 89, died in his sleep and woke up in Heaven on Thursday, December 18, 2014.
John was born September 29, 1925 to John and Marie Coch in Monessen, Pa. and had been an Akron resident most of his life. He was employed by Akron Public Schools as a teacher at Thomastown and Hatton Elementary Schools for over 35 years retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during WWII having attained the rank of Captain.
John was a member of St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church and had been a 20 year member of the church council. He very active in the GBU (United Lutheran Society), had served as a member of their board and received the Francis B. Madison Award.
John loved camping, gardening, golf and of all things shopping (he liked to buy stuff on sale).
John was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanette; children Roger (Leta) Coch, John Coch and Karen (Vince) Parisi; grandchildren Fred Andrews, Sara (Jessica) Ciccozzi and Megan Coch; mother-in-law Anna Orban and brother-in-law Richard Orban; and was preceded in death by his infant daughter Rebecca; daughter Kristine Coch and 5 siblings.
The family will receive friends Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 11:00 Am at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Gordon officiating. Interment follows at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
