Obituary of Anne Mitchen

Anne Mitchen, 94, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at National Church Residence of Bath. Anne was born November 30, 1920 to Andrew and Katherine (Fagos) Somody in Akron and had been an Akron resident her entire life. She retired from Kaufman's Department Store and had worked at the Jednota and Women's City Club. She was a faithful member of St. John/St. Paul Lutheran Church. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1959, son Michael Peter, grandson Brian, brother Andrew, sister-in-law Nelly Somody, sister Helen, brother-in-law Andrew Rajniak and sister-in-law Dorothy Somody. She is survived by her children Mark (Karen), Karen (Terry) O'Connor and Ellen (Jimmy) Willen; grandchildren David (Angie), Matthew, Marianne and Katherine Mitchen and Jesse Willen; great grandchildren Kayla and Lucy Anne Mitchen; siblings Jerry Somody, and Margaret (John) Misalko. After the death of her husband in 1959, Anne raised her four small children as a single mother. She worked two jobs to provide for them. Mark, Karen and Ellen are forever grateful for her dedication and love. She had a heart of gold and shared what she had with others. Her gentle and loving nature will be remembered by many. Funeral services will be held Saturday 12:00 PM (noon) in the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron OH 44301, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 until time of services. Inurnment Holy Cross Cemetery.
