Obituary of Julia Mary Swan
Julia M. Swan, 96, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2014, at Heather Knoll Nursing Home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Akron, Julia lived here all of her life. She attended the Firestone Park United Methodist Church and was a member of their choir. Julia modeled for O'Neil's Department Store. She managed the Martha Washington Candy Store, worked at United Dental and volunteered at Akron Children's Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, spending summers at their cabin in Pennsylvania, celebrating the holidays, decorating and baking for Christmas.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Lloyd E. Swan; her parents, Joseph and Anna Hippli and her sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Richard Horn. She is survived by her son and caregiver of 31 years, Gerald J. Swan; her nieces, Irene (Juell) Stinnett and Bonnie Thompson; grandchildren, Jeralynn (Michael) Cetnarowski, Jeffrey (Angie) Swan, Scott (Lisa) Swan and Derek (Debi) Swan; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Alicia, Stefanie, Stacie, Brittany, Lindsay, Tyler, Trevor, Lindsey, Logan, Evan and Kaden; great-nephews, Richard and Danny, great-niece, Kim and great-great nephew, Zack, as well as, many compassionate and caring friends and neighbors.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 5 from 4-7 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to Firestone Park United Methodist Church, 250 N.
