Obituary of Lani Anna Pappas

Lani Anna Pappas, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in Barberton. Lani was born on December 27, 1944 in Wisconsin to Samuel & Geneva Angotti, and moved to Barberton as a young child. She married her high school sweetheart Anthony Pappas in 1966, and received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Akron. Lani taught at Wadsworth City Schools, and enjoyed gardening, travel and dining out. She was a proud grandmother, and loved attending their sporting and school events. Lani was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Anthony; sons Anthony M. (Gina), James J. (Gretchen), & Daniel A.; daughters Nicole Ford and Carice Pappas; 11 grandchildren; and best friend Sally Gangle. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Nancy Flickinger for her knowledgeable, kind and compassionate care of Lani over the years. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 17 from 5-7 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle, 4022 Johnson Rd. in Norton. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 17 from 5-7 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 18 at 9:15 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle, 4022 Johnson Rd. in Norton.  Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
