Obituary of Rudy Jovanov
Rudy 'Big Rudy' Jovanov, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014.
Rudy was born in Serbia on June 22, 1927and came to the United states in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Rudy married Alice Stenger in 1961 and worked in security at Seiberling Tire Company for 36 years. Rudy was a member of St. Demetrius Serbian Orthodox Church, and of their choir. He loved bowling and golf, achieving five 300's and a hole-in-one. Rudy was a talented musician, traveling across the country, for over 60 years, singing and playing with his bands, Isador Bajic and Udri Banda; he is with his band again and his life of music is forever in our hearts. Rudy brought laughter wherever he went because he had a joke for every occasion. The world is a more joyful and kinder place because of Rudy.
Rudy is survived by his many loved ones: he was husband of 53 years to Alice; father of Nancy Vega, Philip Anderson, Michael (Larraine) Anderson, and Crystal Taylor; father-figure of Rafael Vega; grandfather to Phillip Anderson Jr., Kimberly (Ross) Lubrani, Jason & Christopher Neumeyer, P.J. Anderson, Jessica & Justin Anderson, and Bianca & Vanessa Vega; and great-grandfather of Josiah Martin and Caleb Lubrani. He also leaves behind his special nephews Steve Bozdanovich & family, and Andy Radin & family; and also 'adopted son' and band-mate Milenko "Mickey" Paljich.
The family thanks the staff at the Summa Barberton Saber Unit and the staff at Lorantffy Care Center for their compassionate care.
