Obituary of James Kenneth Gossard

GREEN -- James K. Gossard (aka Wildman and Fatkid), 70, passed away Tuesday October 14, 2014 at Akron General Medical Center with his family at his side. Jim was born February 28, 1944 to Weyland K and MaryEtta (Swickard) Gossard in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed as a mold finisher by Goodyear Tire (where he was known as Wildman), retiring in 2001 after 36 years of service. He was a member of F&AM Coventry-Akron Lodge 83 and the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. Jim was known for his sense of humor, jokes and will always be remembered by longtime friends as FatKid. He never met a stranger and loved welcoming friends and family to his home. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop and rides on his golf cart with the grandchildren. He had vacationed at Myrtle Beach every year since 1976 and recently enjoyed time with the whole family there. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Christine; children Duane (Mya) Wyckoff, Dawn (Earl) McDonald, Dustin (Angie) Wyckoff and Jeffrey and Michael Gossard; grandchildren Derrick, Cheston, Cody and Lexi Wyckoff, Brandon, Cole and Kyrstan McDonald and Dawson, Donovan and Amyryn Wyckoff; great grandchild Charlee Collmar. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 6pm at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron where a Masonic Service will be held Sunday at 5:30pm.Funeral services will take place Monday 10:00 am at the funeral home and will be followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.Donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
