Obituary of John Joseph Spinelli
GREEN - John J. Spinelli, 87, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.
John was born February 28, 1927 in Akron to Frank and Agnes (Bonner) Spinelli. He drove for Tramonte Distributing Co. for 38 years and missed only one day of work in that time. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
John loved to golf and bowl and enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. He was in the Old Timer Athletes Group. He enjoyed playing the lottery and going to bingo with his wife. But most of all loved spending time with his family. He rooted for Ohio State and the Indians, but not the Browns. He was a Cincinnati fan. He never forgave the Browns for what they did to Paul. Above all John was a quiet, kind and gentle man.
John joins his beloved wife of 67 years Irene who passed away August 2, 2014 and his son Jimmy. Also preceded in death by his brothers Harold, Richard, Ralph, Dane, and sister Frances; he is survived by his children Darla (Roy) Shilts, John Spinelli, Gary (Sue DeHoff) Spinelli and Tony Spinelli; grandchildren Julie (Morgan) Knox, Roy (Sarah Snider) Shilts, Jr., Richard (Cazzi Oakes) Shilts, Johnny (Vanessa Nyeste) Spinelli, Ryan Spinelli, and Erik (fiancé Elise Castelli) Spinelli; sisters-in-law Violet Spinelli and Linda Carderelli; brother-in-law Bill Boykin; and his dog Odie.
The family will receive friends Friday 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Steese and Massillon Roads in Green, entrance is off of Steese). A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 10:30 am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown OH 44685. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
