Obituary of Andrew Joseph Kacsanek

Andrew J. Kacsanek, Jr., 89, passed away on October 6, 2014. Born in Akron on July 15, 1925, to the late Andrew J. Sr. & Anna Kacsanek, Andy had been a lifetime area resident. He was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Andy retired as a rubber worker from the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co in 1985. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1066, the American Legion, had been a member of the Jednota Club for over 68 years, and was a member of the Portage Lakes Eagles Aerie #2736. In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by his wife Eva and his brother Joe. He is survived by his children Karen (Paul) Perrotta of San Clemente, CA, Andrew Kacsanek III, & Darlene (Donald) Frantz, as well as 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind brothers George (Joanna) & Edward Kacsanek, as well as his loving companion of 20 years Linda Henko. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 4-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CaAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ralph Coletta on Saturday, 10:00 am, at the St. John the Baptist Community on Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, Andy's family kindly asks that a donation be made to the A-T Children's Project in honor of his great-granddaughter, Rylie, who was born with a terminal, rare disease.
