Obituary of Alvah Eugene Spicer
Alvah Eugene Spicer, 82, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 surrounded by his family at Akron City Hospital.
Alvah was born on July 13, 1932 to Alvah and Oda Spicer. He served in the United Stated Army in Korea and returned to Akron to marry Lucille Galizio, his loving wife of 58 years. Alvah worked in the Chemical Division of B.F. Goodrich for 43 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Alvah was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sides of the game; he loved playing golf, and coaching CYO baseball and football, and serving as an umpire for CYO.
Alvah was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Oda; his brothers Richard, Howard & sister-in-law Gay. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; children Timothy (Julie), Todd (Roseann), Thomas, and Theresa Spicer; grandchildren Rachel, Timothy, Clayton, Sarah, Hannah, & Megan; and brothers Robert (Helen),Willard and sister-in-law Jeanette; and many nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 7, 9am to 10:45am, at the Anthony Funeral Home GREEN CHAPEL, 4178 Massillon Rd. in Green (at the intersection of Rte. 241 & Steese Rd.; entrance off of Steese). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following the calling hours, at 11:00 am, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church 1800 Steese Rd. in Green (located across the street from the funeral home).
