Obituary of Christ Manos
Christ Manos,84, passed away September 6, 2014.
Born in Perdakis, Kozani, Greece in 1930, he lived through the German
occupation, was orphaned, and was brought to the U.S. by an uncle in
1951. He worked as a welder at the Atlantic Foundry Co. for thirty
eight years. Steadfast in his faith in God, he tried to live his life
accordingly through his deeds and as a long time member of
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Very independent, he was a hard
worker who always looked out for his family. Preceded in death by
wife Liberty, he kept busy for many years by chauffeuring his
grandchildren to many a soccer practice, riding his bike,
skateboarding, and rollerblading down Beaver Street. He was also a
frequent visitor to several Akron area Metro parks where he challenged
others to throw a football or Frisbee as far as him.
Christ is survived his by son, George (Rose) Manos, daughter, Eva
(Terry) Gabet, and daughter, Mary (Lynn) Vinson; grandchildren, Paul
Manos, Peter Manos, Heather (Kurt) Gibbins, Joshua (Mariel) Gabet,
Kathryn (Brian) Hoffmeister, Michelle Flores, and Michael Vinson;
great-grandchildren Alexis Rae, Zachary, Coraline, Jacob, and Alexis
Lynn. He was extremely proud of his family and they were equally proud
to call him their dad and papou (grandpa). His grandchildren have
fond memories of when he babysat them - teaching them to play
checkers, be physically competitive, appreciate a good Western, and
dip their French fries in ice cream cones. He loved to make you laugh
and was so loved by his children, grandchildren, and great
grandchildren. Papou's outlook on life is engrained in his family's
memories of him forever, and he will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends TODAY 5 to 8 pm at the Anthony Funeral
Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. Akron where a
Trisayios Service will be held at 6:00 pm. A funeral Liturgy will be

S. Union St. Akron OH 44304, where the body will lie in state one hour
prior to services. Donations may be made to the church scholarship
fund. (Anthony, Akron, 330-724-1281, anthonyfh.com)
