Obituary of Helen D. Garanich

Helen D. Garanich, 91, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Fairfield, Ohio. Helen was born in Perryopolis, PA on January 11, 1923 to Michael and Helen Sopko. She came to Akron in the early 1940s and married her beloved George Garanich in 1946. Helen was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and of the Jednota Club 553. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Helen Sopko; loving husband of 56 years, George; & beloved brother Michael Sopko. She is survived by her chrildren, Diane (David) Drapcho of Los Angeles, CA, Cheryl (Bob) Beadle of Fairfield, OH, and David M. Garanich of Akron; grandchildren Stacy (Alex) Middendorf, Kellie (Kevin) Leady, Eric (Liz) Beadle, Kristi Beadle (fiance Bryan Rose), Jeff Beadle and David C. Garanich; and great-grandson Brady Middendorf; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, August 15 from 5-9 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, August 16, at the Catholic Community of St. John the Baptist, 1044 Brown Street in Akron.
