Obituary of Cleo J. Ledford
Cleo Ledford, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning after a short illness, one day before her 81st birthday.
Cleo was born in Murphy, North Carolina, where 70 years ago she met JC Ledford, her best friend and the love of her life. Before moving to Ohio, Cleo and JC lived in Fort Bragg, NC, where JC served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Cleo enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter, her homeland of North Carolina, and various campgrounds across Ohio. She found happiness while spending time with family/friends playing cards, marbles and shuffleboard. Cleo also loved caring for their Cairn Terrier, "Lady."
Cleo was preceded in death by parents, Juanita and Melvin Hedden, and grandson, TJ Mozik. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, JC Ledford; children, Debbie Ledford, Diane (Chris) Kyriakedes, Michael Ledford; sister Winona McClure and brother Bob Hedden of Georgia. She lovingly adored her grandchildren: Heather Mozik, James (Jessalyn), Sarah, and Alexis Kyriakedes, Adam and Allyse Ledford; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Rowyn Gamsby.
Visitation will be held at the Anthony Family Funeral Home, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main Street in Akron, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 13. The memorial service will be Thursday at 11 am, at the funeral home; visitors are welcome an hour before the service.
