Obituary of Zachary Michael Doherty

-UNIONTOWN Zachary Michael Doherty, 18, of Uniontown, Ohio, passed away on Aug. 3, 2014. Zachary graduated summa cum laude from Lake High School in May, where he was a huge part of the Blue Streak band family. He had been accepted into the Akron University Honors College this fall, intending to enter the Corrosion Engineering program. Zachary loved going fishing and shooting with his dad and brother. He loved computers and games, especially going to LAN parties with his best friends. He knew how to brighten any room with his fun and easy personality. Zachary forever will be missed by everyone around him. He was a true gift from God. Zachary was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anne Doherty, of Akron. He is survived by parents, Pamela and Shawn Doherty of Uniontown; sister, Brittney Doherty (Paul McGuire) of Canton; brother, Kevin Doherty (Erin Verhovitz) of Hartville; grandfather, Jere Doherty of Akron; grandmother, Judy Summers (Chuck Summers) of Akron; and niece, Braylee McGuire. Zachary also is survived by many aunts and uncles, including Robin and Harold Shockley of Uniontown; Matthew Loucks of Hartville; Tim Doherty of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; many cousins, including cousins, Krista, Kaylee, Kameron and Kyle Shockley and Mattison Loucks; and his ever-loving dog, Abby. Along with many other family and friends, Zachary also leaves extended family, Rick and Lillian Hall of Uniontown, as well as very best friends, Cole Hall, Erik Dickens, Andrew Vaughan and Will Drayer and girlfriend, Ashley Gunn. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 3-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church 1580 Brown St. in Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lake High School Blue Streak Marching Band, 1025 Lake Center St. NW, Uniontown, Ohio, 44685.
