Obituary of Robert Lee Collins

Robert L. Collins, 87, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Akron City Hospital. Bob was born June 10, 1927 toVirgil and Ida (Wagner) Collins in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life. He graduated from East High and was veteran of the US Army WWII He was a member of Allenside Presbyterian Church. He was employed by General Tire for over 30 years. Bob enjoyed golf in the General Tire leagues and played well into his eighties. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife Ann. He liked to drive and took daily car trips. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Ann (Foster) last year; son-in-law, Michael Goffee; siblings Don and Virgil Collins. He is survived by son David; daughters, Diane (David) Allred, Patricia Goffee and Barbara (Kevin) Groh; grandchildren, Michael (Missy) and Jon (Elise) Allred, Mark (Alissa), Sean (Jennifer) and Ryan Collins and (Kinsey), Sarah (Matthew) Bailey, Carrie Goffee and (Jared) and Colin, Caitlin and Christopher Groh; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron with Rev. Pete McCauley officiating.
