Obituary of Marteen Tigyer

Marteen Tigyer passed away August 23, 2013. Born in Smithville, Tennessee in 1915, she had resided in Portage Lakes most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Tigyer; parents, Stith and Letha McHood; six brothers; and dear sisters, Avis Seesdorf, and Jean Lupica. Marteen retired from Seiberling Tire and Rubber in 1974 after 36 years of service. She was an avid quilter and had a passion for beautiful flowers and gardening. She loved watching sports and was a huge Indians and Browns fan to the end. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends, playing cards and cooking with her two sisters. She leaves behind and will be sadly missed by her brother, Jack (Patricia); many nieces and nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. The family would like to express gratitude and thanks to Summit County Sheriff Sergeant Teresa Davis of the Senior Watch Program for her many visits and friendship. Plus a special thanks to her home caregivers for their compassion. She thought of them as family.
