Obituary of Roger Winfield Petty

ALPENA, MICH. -- Roger Winfield Petty, 63, formerly of Akron, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Roger was born in Akron, Ohio on September 29, 1949 to the late Arbra and Grace (Siemsen) Petty. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the Department of Human Services in Alpena retiring in 2011. Roger enjoyed all things outdoors and was a master of observing the natural world around him. He especially loved studying old maps. He also loved watching Ohio State football games, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians and the Akron University Zips football and basketball teams. He attended Kent State University and graduated from the University of Akron. Surviving are his two children, Nicole Petty of Florida, Jon (Megan) Petty of Michigan; sister, Judy (Larry) Rozewicz of Akron; his ex-wife, Beth Petty of Michigan.
