Obituary of Erich R. Wegner

Erich R. Wegner, 82, passed away on July 19, 2014. Erich was born in Germany, and graduated from the University of Mannheim with a degree in Finance. Erich retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, after 35 years of corporate service. Erich is survived by Ingeborg, his wife of 56 years and three daughters; Carole Wegner (Jeffrey Clemens), Cornelia Wegner and Catherine Bell (Mike Bell) and five grandchildren, Erik and Kira Wegner-Clemens, Sophia DelGaudio, Helene and Katrina Bell and his siblings, Reinhard Wegner (Betty) and Christl Donelan. Erich was an athlete (soccer, skiing, running, swimming) who loved hiking the trails in the park near his home, feeding his birds, surf fishing at the Outer Banks and gardening every summer. Everyone who knew him loved him. We miss him dearly. He was our rock. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
