Obituary of Karen Anne Capanna
Karen Capanna passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the age of 77.
Karen's accomplishments and achievements in life are far too great to count. She was a caring and devoted counselor to those in need, a small-business owner with her husband, partner and best friend Robert Capanna and she was the proud, loving and indefatigable mother of five, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of four.
The amount of empathy and compassion she showed not only to her family, but to everyone in her life, particularly to those in great need, is nothing short of remarkable. Her arms and doors were always open. She listened without judgment and taught without condescension. She loved a good joke no matter how many times she had heard it before, and she could make anyone laugh.
Her spirit lives on in the hearts of the countless lives she has touched. Her family and loved ones are forever affected by the example she set, our paths guided by her light. She has taught us how to live a good life, and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her mother Eileen Kingsland; children Robert (Christine) Capanna Jr., Eric, Michelle and David Capanna and Renee (Shogo) Aoyama; grandchildren Robert (Kelly) Capanna III, Marcie (Jared) Dickey, Nicholas and Nathaniel Capanna, Owein Grant and Erica and Christian Capanna; great grandchildren Maddox, Teagen Capanna, Robert Capanna IV and Samson Dickey; siblings Kathy Reynolds, Susan Petersen and David Kingsland; sister-in-law Lillian Eriksen; ansd was preceded in death by her father David Kingsland; sisters Diane Haberstroh and Lee Von Bargen.
A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1580 Brown St, Akron OH 44301, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul School Endowment at the above address. (Anthony, Akron, anthonyfh.com, 330,724,1281)
