Obituary of Frances Mae Glaston
Frances Mae "Dolly" Glaston, 79, passed away on April 1, 2013 at Akron City Hospital.
Born in Akron on July 25, 1933 to the late Joseph and Sarah Dombek, Dolly had been a lifetime area resident. She was a 1951 graduate of Garfield High School and later attended The University of Akron. She worked as a secretary for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., in quality control for Goodyear Tire & Rubber, was a sales rep. for R.J. Reynolds, and as a merchandiser for American Greetings. Dolly also volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and was the first commissioner of the Green Girls Softball League. She was a longtime, faithful member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where she was responsible for making the linens and skirting for the church hall upon its opening. She volunteered for many years at the church fish frys and Bazaars. Dolly enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting, and entertaining guests at her swimming pool.
In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert of Green; sons, Rick (Theresa) of Fort Collins, Colo., and Ken of Akron; grandson, Jason Glaston of St. Louis; sister, Aldena Sample and her children Robbie and Melissa Sample, as well as many cousins.
