Steve Pappas, 87, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013.
Steve was born August 11, 1925 to Michael and Diamondo (Bitzani) Papademetriou in Tripolis, Greece and had been an Akron area resident his entire life. He was 18 when he served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborn Division as a paratrooper and in the 325th Glider Infantry. He was wounded in Holland during the European Campaign and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his bravery under fire. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Steve lived life on his own terms, never imposing on anyone yet was always ready to help a friend or stranger in need. His love for his family was unconditional and seemed to have no limit. His life was a lesson in the art of anticipating the needs of those he loved and caring for them without asking for something in return.
