Obituary of John B. Griffith

John B. Griffith, age 81, of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away September 30, 2012. John was born on September 9, 1931 in Akron, Ohio and attended Cuyahoga Falls High School. He graduated in 1950 and enlisted in the Navy right after High School. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned home and attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. John later joined the Summit County Sheriff's Department and later retired from the Summit County Adult Probation Division. After retirement, he continued to work in law enforcement and became the Chief of Police in Put-n-Bay, Ohio. He later moved to Ft. Myers, Florida where he was employed by the Edison Mall as the Chief of Security. John was preceded in death by his youngest son, Gene B. Griffith, and leaves his eldest son, Scott W. Griffith of Cape Coral, Fla.; companion, Dottie Jones of Ft. Myers, Fla.; brother, Marion (Jackie) Griffith of Jaffery, N.H; sister-in-law, Carol (Bill) Curley of Port Charlotte, Fla.; grandchildren, Patrick Griffith of Columbus, Ga., Wyatt Griffith of Cape Coral, Fla., and Taylor Hargis of Alabama.
