Obituary of Robert T. Sayre

Robert T. Sayre, 63, with his son and mother by his side, lost his battle with brain cancer on February 7, 2012. Robert was born September 3, 1948 to Harold Ray and Mary Kathleen (Turner) Sayre in Akron and had been a Green resident his entire life. He was a 1966 graduate of Green High School and enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War having attained the rank of SFP3. He was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for over 14 years as a valve specialist and formed his own company, Accuvalve. In addition to his father, Robert was preceded in death by his still born son, Timothy and his favorite cousin and co-enlister, Terry Gaylord; and is survived by his mother, Mary Kathleen Sayre; children, Cathy (Earl) Johnson and Brian Sayre; grandchildren, John, Jared, and Joseph Johnson and Madeline Grace Sayre; sisters, Karen (David) Fritz and Linda (Wayne) Scott; his former wife and best friend, Barb (nee Rogers) Grayshock; special great-nephew, Zach Scott; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We are grateful to the people of Crossroads Hospice for their tender care of our father, son, grandfather and brother. Funeral service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Green Chapel, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Steese and Massillon, entrance off Steese), Rev. Glenn Rogers officiating. Interment at Greensburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
