Obituary of George M. Weakland

George M. Weakland, 85, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Akron City Hospital. George was born March 22, 1926 to George B. and Mary (Riley) Weakland in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for over 28 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and was a proud veteran of the Navy having served during World War II. In addition to his parents; George was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Abbott in 1995; and siblings, Carl Weakland, Emily Edwards and Louise Barr; and is survived by his wife, Victoria (Paciolla); children, Janice Hagerman, Rita (Daniel) Sliman and Robert Weakland; grandchildren, Rick (Denise) Abbott, Renee Abbott and Jonathan Sliman; great- grandchildren, Kyler and Hope Hoffman and Samantha Abbott; siblings, Robert (Alma), James (Noma) and Francis Weakland, Mary Anne (Gordon) Oliver, Margaret Catrone, Geraldine Barrone, Arlene Ciolli, Thomas (Nancy) Weakland and Evelyn (Mike) Lowe; sister-in-law, Mary Uhall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 11:30 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 6 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Green Chapel, 4178 Massillon Rd. (at the intersection of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese).
