Obituary of William Musyt

William "Bill" Musyt, 86, passed away on May 9, 2014 at Akron City Hospital. Bill was born May 5, 1928 to Aleck and Anastasia (Muzik) Musyt. Born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, Bill was a 1946 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. He enjoyed playing bantam football. He was a proud member of the 1946 undefeated golf team that won the Western Reserve Championship. Bill was inducted into the Cuyahoga Falls City Schools Athletic Hall of Fame in 1967. Bill was a Kent State University graduate with a degree in chemistry. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Cotten (DD-669) destroyer traveling the globe during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Navy, Bill obtained his masters degree from the University of Akron and began his lifelong career as a polymer chemist with Goodyear, Goodyear Aerospace and Loral. After 33 years of service, Bill retired in 1988. He was a self-proclaimed marbles champion, an avid golfer and loved to polka at family celebrations. Bill was preceded in death by his seven siblings and spouses, Mary (Andy) Dudra, Dorothy (Tony) Brislinger, Katie (George) Wolf, Henry Musyt, Fred Musyt, Aleck (Grace) Musyt, John Musyt; and special companion, Alice. He is survived by sister-in-law, Ann Musyt; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Per Bill's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place Wednesday, May 14 at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls.
