Obituary of Gary Walker
Gary Walker, 79, passed away on July 20, at Akron City Hospital.
Gary was born in Akron on October 9, 1931 to the late William and Flora Walker and had been a lifetime resident. Gary graduated from Central High School and later went on to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a rubber worker for General Tire until 1982 and RCA Rubber until his retirement in 1997. Gary was an avid Steelers fan.
He was a kind and caring man that will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 2008 and his brothers, William Jr., David, and Paul Walker. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Becky (Michael) Kemp of Tallmadge and Connie Santos of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Melissa Kemp, Brandon Sitko, and Daniel Santos; brother and best friend, Herbert of Cuyahoga Falls; nieces and nephews, Nancy Walker, Richard Walker, Devon Groff, Debi Groff, and Marcy Cain.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL (at 3rd. st., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls), where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Falls Cancer Club, 2253 3rd. Street, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221-2503.
