Obituary of John A. Stewart
John A. ``Jack' Stewart, Jr., 74, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away June 23, 2011 at home surrounded by his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Silver Lake Country Club, an Elks and Moose member. Jack was a graduate of St. Mary's High School where he played basketball, football and baseball, but baseball was where he excelled. He played throughout high school, double A leagues, and tried out for the majors. He shared his love of baseball by coaching his sons and grandsons through little league and travel leagues.
He retired from the City of Cuyahoga Falls Electric Utility after 33 years of service. He went on to be the Deputy Director of the Ocala Electric Utility, in Florida. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a devoted Notre Dame fan. He loved golf, dogs, and the news.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Marcelene; sons, John III (Vicky), Thomas (fiancée) Karen, Dr. Joseph (Shelly), Edward (Kara), and David; and daughter, Joan Zbin; grandchildren, John IV, Lauren, Michael, Matthew, Sarah, Abigail, Christopher, and Andrew Stewart, Jacob Zbin and Whitney White. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Neal Stewart; sisters, JoAnn Channel and Margaret ``Peg' Dunton and brother-in-law, John Dunton. He is survived by sisters, Theresa Halsey, Mary Dula (Ron), brother, Mark Stewart (Lori), brother-in-law, Jerry Bell (Dee).
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home McGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL, (at 3rd St., one block north of Portage Trail in the Falls). A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1761 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls 44221. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Parish Handicap Access Ramp Fund of Cuyahoga Falls or the
