Obituary of Esther Vlier

Esther Vlier, 90, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley. Born in Florida on April 6, 1920 to the late Harley and Mabel Chapin, Esther had been an area resident for most of her life. She was a member of the Assembly of God on Canton Road. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Vlier and son, Rick Vlier; son-in-law, Ken Skinner; brothers, Bruce and Hugh; and sisters, Alice and Rachel. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Skinner of Akron; grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Conwell, Mike Skinner, Maureen (Dick) Kiko; and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Sidney, Cora, and Alex; sisters, Cora Perkins and Ruth Hopper; and brothers, Moody (Hilma) and John (Dottie) Chapin. A funeral service will take place on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
