Obituary of Vernadine Murphy
Vernadine Murphy (Sullivan), 86, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Akron City Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born February 21, 1924 to David and Ethel (Youngkin) Nash in Fallen Timber, Pa., and had been an Akron resident most of her life.
Vernadine is the beloved mother of James (Mary Caldwell) Sullivan, David (Janine) Sullivan and Rebecca (Gregory) Kroah; grandmother of Jimmy (Chris), Jeff (Jodi), Sean and Ryan Sullivan, David (Casey), Erin (Holy), and Emily Sullivan, and Gregory (Alissa), and Chad (Nicole) Kroah; great-grandmother of Zack, Zana, Zain, Dax, Deegan, Van, Lexie, Ethan, Kyler, Cooper, Hadley, Isla Sullivan and Orion and Sophia Kroah; her lifetime friend, Wilma Edwards; loving daughters-in-law, Joyce Cosgrove, Cheryl Hart and Linda Sullivan; and her friend and caregiver, Janis.
She leaves this earth to join her husband, Fred (Murph) Murphy and her siblings, Dode, Les and Dick.
Vern retired from Akron YMCA Hope Day Care Center and Thomastown Party Center and was a lifetime member of Akron Council of PTA and TOPP 221 and Goodyear Heights Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Father Paul Rosing officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Visitation of Mary Soup Kitchen, 87 Broad St., Akron, OH 44305.
